Saudi Aramco signs training and R&D agreement

Oil giant to focus on knowledge transfer and training of next generation of oil and gas professionals

Saudi Aramco has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Damam for the development of joint R&D and training programmes.

Saudi Arabia’s oil giant will join forces with the University of Damam in the transfer of knowledge and training of the next generation of oil and gas professionals.

The MoU will specifically focus on encouraging more women to enter the oil and gas sector by helping them improve their skills and knowledge.

An incubator for projects for male and female students will also be established.

In the field of scientific research, the two sides said they will consider the possibility of launching scientific research and development programs in various critical areas.

Partnerships with leading academic and industrial institutions will also be explored to further strengthen the ties between the Kingdom’s industrial and education sector.

Attending the signing ceremony Saudi Aramco president and CEO Khalid A. Al-Falih praised the university’s scientific and research achievements and its research centers.

“We believe that the whole industrial sector in the Kingdom should make every effort to achieve integration between the educational system and the Kingdom’s targeted industrial and economic development through the exchange of scientific expertise and the application of best practices,” Al-Falih said.
