Refining and Petrochemicals Middle East Power 50

In this year's Refining and Petrochemicals Middle East Power 50 we look at the most influential and innovative players in the downstream sector

In this year’s Refining and Petrochemicals Middle East Power 50 we look at the most influential and innovative players in the downstream sector. This year’s edition attempts to redefine the criteria from previous years.

The scope of contributors to the downstream sector is wide and throws up a number of difficulties. Chief amongst which is trying to compare companies on a like-for-like basis when their business operations are anything but.

Comparing suppliers with producers, for example, is a difficult task. In the interest of inclusivity, we have decided to allow all comers to this list, be they producers, suppliers, marketers, vendors or even government departments.

The criteria for ranking the top 50 of such a broad spectrum of companies has to be flexible. We have prioritised influence and activity in 2014 over historical influence, in an attempt to highlight the industries current movers and shakers.

The amount of business each company has done in 2014 is obviously a key factor, but this Power 50 is more than just a rich list for the downstream sector. We have tried to acknowledge technical innovation and attitude to sustainability as well as pure financial success.

Power 50: 1-10

Power 50: 11-20

Power 50: 21-30

Power 50: 31-40

Power 50: 41-50

All in all, we hope that this Power 50 will give a full and wide ranging look at the industry’s top players.
