Asian industrial process outsourcing company AG&P plans to open a new training school for the Gulf national workforce, its vice president for business development said at ADIPEC last week.

The Philippines based IPO company will partake in the localisation efforts of governments in the region by providing the young national workforce with vocational training in oil and gas jobs.

“One of the things that we are very cognisant of is the Emiratisation and Saudisation, which is one of the drivers for governments here. Our plan in the future is to start building training schools.

“We really do see this as a partnership with the region and we want to collaborate with the government and the EPCs and the NOCs here to be able to really build an ecosystem that we can support,” said Rituraj Mathur, VP , Business Development.

After a faded presence in the region 15 years ago, AG&P is back and ready to re-enter the GCC market again.

“AG&P is looking to make a big push in the Middle East. Our target markets are the UAE and Saudi Arabia. We have so far met with clients and potential partners from those countries.

“Our clients are also the big EPC companies and all of them have presence here and they have been asking us to come to this region for some time now. We have just finished a couple of projects in the region. We did some modulirisation work for a client in Kurdistan. We also just finished a project for the Italian EPC Saipem offshore Iraq,” said Mathur.

AG&P provides fabrication, assembly and asset management services to the offshore and onshore oil & gas industry.

“The market for us is booming because this region really is the hub for oil and gas. We are seeing a couple of themes develop here. Firstly the GCC is trying to keep a lot of its refining capacity building on it refining capacity. Secondly, this region has become a larger driver for demand,” said the VP.

We see that they are not just exporting but a lot of the capacity is coming to service the regional market itself. As well as that we do see the market grow.

“In the next three to twelve months AG&P is going to have a presence in Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait where we are going to be opening new offices. We will be established and hopefully we’ll do well”, he added.
