Libya’s fragile oil, gas and petrochemical infrastructure again came under attack this week, as a chemical storage tank was hit by a volley of rocket shells this week.
The attack happened at the Al-Jouf Chemical facility in Benghazi on Wednesday.
Airstrikes had targeted militant positions in the city throughout the day, local sources reported.
Rockets, probably from a plane, hit a storage tank of chemicals used to clean pipelines, Saad al-Fakhri, deputy head of Libya’s oil workers’ union, told Reuters.
The site is around 100km from Zueitina, one of Libya’s main export terminals.
