Iran will extract between 30,000-35,000 barrels per day from Azar oilfield in September next year, oil minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Thursday.
The production of oil from Azar field, near Mehran border city in Ilam province, is set to increase the country’s daily oil production to 65,000 bpd according to Zanganeh.
The project is being implemented by Iranian contractor companies based on a buyback deal worth over $1bn. Azar oilfield has five functioning derricks now. Five wells have already been drilled as part of the project.
Zanganeh also said that the natural gas produced from those wells will be transferred to the petrochemical plants in Dehloran.
