Qatar’s Minister says closer links with US needed

Qatar Petroleum investments in the US were also on the agenda

Qatar’s Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada stressed the need for closer cooperation between Qatar and US energy companies, Qatar News Agency reported. 

 On top of the agenda of his meeting with the American Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz during his official visit to the US was Qatar Petroleum investments in the United States in addition to bilateral cooperation in the energy field.

 The two sides also spoke about global energy trends and developments and challenges in the oil and gas markets. HE Al Sada met with officials from Exxon Mobil ConocoPhillips and Chevron Phillips Chemical.

The meetings were attended by HE Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States Mohammed Jaham Al Kuwari and a number of senior officials at Qatar Petroleum Ras Gas and Qatar Petroleum International.

 In his speech in front of the audience Qatar’s Energy Minister said a closer partnership will help Qatar to exploit its energy resources and build a sustainable economy that benefits all Qataris.

The US Assistant Secretary of State has been reported as saying that the economic relations between the two countries became very close referring to the United States readiness to support the development of Qatar’s economy.
