Iran has increased the amount of natural gas supplied to downstream gas refining companies to 71.2bn cubic metres, according to news site Zawya.

Mehdi Jamshidi-Dana, a director of National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), also said the figure indicates a 15-percent growth compared with the corresponding figure of last year, which was 61.91 bcm, IRNA reported.

He noted that the main reason for the rise in gas delivery pertains to speedy completion of repairs in Fajr-e Jam Refinery, Sarkhoun and Qeshm Gas Refinery and Ilam Refinery five, three and four days ahead of schedule respectively.

Jamshidi-Dana said repairs of the refineries of phases 1, 4 and 5 of the South Pars (SP) Gas Field in Bushehr province were also carried out 20 and 12 days ahead of schedule respectively, which boosted gas supply.

The NIGC director noted that 50 percent of the increase pertain to launching SP phases 12, 15 and 16.

He said his directorate has supervised the project of increasing the Fifth National Pipeline’s gas delivery to Fajr-e Jam and Bidboland refineries. Jamshidi-Dana stressed that during March 21-August 22, the pipeline’s gas supply to refineries grew by 12 mcm year-on-year.
