Work on the 100-kilometer Iran-Iraq export pipeline has been completed and the pipeline is ready for testing.
The managing director of Iran’s Gas Engineering and Development Company, Alireza Gharibi said that testing on the 48-inch pipeline has started with the export of 5 million cubic meters of gas per day.
“In order to test the pipeline, after conducting the pipeline cleaning operation, measurement pigging will be followed by a water test,” said Gharibi.
He added that after the testing process is complete, 97 kilometers of gas export pipeline will be ready.
“When this part of the pipeline becomes operational, additional pipeline loops will increase gas export to Iraq,” he said.
In the next three years, it is expected that 4 million to 7 million cubic meters of gas will be exported to Iraq, 15 million in the next five years and 25 million in the next eight years, after the pipeline is ready.
