Shell names ABB single global switchgear supplier

ABB to supply Shell with low-voltage switchgear and motor controls

ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, has signed a five-year agreement with Shell to become its global single-source supplier of low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers and related services.

“This global agreement demonstrates that ABB’s commitment to provide premium low-voltage solutions and services creates value for a global company like Shell, focused on safety, reliability and energy efficiency,” said Tarak Mehta, head of ABB’s Low Voltage Products division.

“Over 40 years of experience have gone into ABB switchgear designs. We have installed millions of units globally for our customers, in some of the world’s most harsh environments. The reliability of our products, together with our focus on supporting our customers’ service needs, were fundamental aspects in securing this important contract.”

The-five year global agreement, with an option for an additional five-year extension, covers the sales, support and service of low-voltage switchgear and motor control centers across both IEC* and NEMA* geographies for green-field and brown-field sites.

ABB’s Low Voltage Products division is a leading provider of protection, control and measurement solutions for a wide range of electrical installations, enclosures, switchboards, electronics & electromechanical devices across all major industries including the residential sector.
