Crude oil production capacity of West Karoun Oilfield will rise from its current 300,00bpd to 1.4 million barrel per day by 2021, according to the National Iranian Oil Company.
Gas production from the field is also expected to grow to 1 billion cubic feet per day in the next seven years. Apart from the injection of gas for use in oilfields, it will also be supplied to refineries and petrochemical plants to meet the production requirements.
The West Karoun field is expected to produce 550,000 bpd of oil and 335 million cubic feet per day of gas in three years, according to the Fifth Five-Year Economic Development Plan (2010-15).
West Karoun Oilfield is located in southwestern Iran and its development is expected to earn the country and estimated $21.5 billion a year.
