The International Energy Agency (IEA) has said that Iraq’s oil production growth is in danger with the accelerated demand.

The agency said that the country’s oil production growth targets look at risk, highlighting the growing risks to supplies caused by political unrest and violence in the country.

The IEA cited improving global economy as the cause for increasing growing global demand for oil, also adding that global growth in demand for crude may start to slow down by the end of the current contracts, which was due partly to higher prices.

“Iraq remains the main source of most of the expected growth in production capacity in OPEC, but this growth appears to be at increasing risk,” said Maria van der Hoeven, executive director of the International Energy Agency.

Iraq is OPEC’s the second largest oil producer.
