Iran and Kuwait have demonstrated their willingness to develop the jointly-owned Arash gas field. The field which is located in the Persian Gulf is jointly owned by Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
The two countries expressed this interest during a recent visit by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sahah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Tehran. The event witnessed the meeting of top representatives from both countries including energy officials.
On the invitation of President Rouhani of Iran, Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad visited the country for the first time as Emir of Kuwait. Some of the highlights of his visit include; talks regarding regional and international issues and plans to strengthen Iran-Kuwait ties.
The countries signed six Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) covering several sectors. The agreements are intended to lay ground for better relations and further cooperation between them, most notably an agreement to invest jointly in construction of a large steel mill in Iran.
