Kuwait interested in Iranian natural gas

Kuwait is set to sign a natural gas supply agreement with Iran

Kuwait is looking to import natural gas from Iran. Ali Saleh al-Omair, Kuwait’s oil minister said his country was looking to sign a natural gas supply agreement with Iran.

“Iran has large quantities of gas and Kuwait is in need of Iranian gas through cooperation between the two countries,” he said.

Increasing demand for prompted Kuwait to line up $15 billion worth of gas supply last month from oil giants BP and Royal Dutch Shell.

The OPEC producer also signed a contract in April to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Qatar to help meet its energy needs.

Demand for gas in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is on the rise, owing to rapid population growth and apparent industrial boom.
