Dubai based chemical transporter United Arab Chemical Carriers is said to have picked four tankers this month for a combined total of $140m.
Last week ASC reported that UACC had purchased two tankers, however reports from London suggest the Dubai headquartered company is behind four tankers purchased en bloc this month from the Malaysian International Shipping Company.
In their latest weekly report London based brokers Seasure claim UACC paid $35m for each of the four tankers.
All four vessels are 45,600-dwt medium range product tankers built by Korean yard SLS Shipbuilding.
The Bunga Balsam and Bunga Bakalawi are 2010 built, while the remaining two, the Bunga Begonia and Bunga Banyan were built a year later.
UACC has been busy investing in new tonnage this year, having already purchased two other tankers in January for a total of $56m.
These new acquisitions bring their total outlay for this year to $196m. UACC now has a total fleet of 19 vessels, almost all of them are MR tankers.
Earlier this year UACC announced that Per Wistoft has been appointed as new Chief Executive Officer, joining the company from Brightoil Shipping in Singapore, where he held the position as CEO.
