Omani company Oxea plans new propanol & 2-EH units

Oxea, a global chemical company which is part of Oman Oil Group, has announced the commencement of basic engineering for 2-Ethylhexanol and Propanol units at its Bay City production plant in Texas. This comes on the heels of its March 2014 announcement that the company would be expanding the capacity of its Oxsoft GPO dioctyl terephthalate (DOTP) plasticizer in Europe.

Oxea employs over 1400 people worldwide and has operations in Germany, Netherlands and the United States.

The company expects the Bay City plants to be operational by late 2016 and predicts an increase in current output of Butanol and Propanol by 25% by the end of 2014.

2-EH is used in production of acrylates, nitrates, acids and plasticisers, and is also used as a solvent in the paint industries. Propanol is a key ingredient in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics manufacturing and is also used in production adhesives, printing inks and coatings.
