Organisers hail most successful IPTC yet

Innovation and technological advancement were all on display at IPTC

The 2014 International Petroleum Technology Conference ended in Doha this month, with organisers in Qatar claiming that it was the most successful IPTC event yet.

The conference billed itself as the largest multi society, multi disciplinary oil & gas event in the eastern hemisphere, attracting over 5,000 oil & gas delegates.

IPTC promoted technological and scientific advancement in the industry and drew exhibitors from 71 countries and 850 organisations. The 7,000 sqm exhibition area marked a substantial increase from the last edition, held in Beijing.The conference’s Education Week gave a platform to the industry’s next generation of stars. The program attracted students from 31 countries and 67 different universities.

The conference offered over 400 technical and knowledge sharing presentations from a host of industry experts. Topics included ‘The Future of Integrated Project Management in a Cyclic Environment’, ‘Fundamentals of the Natural Gas Revolution’, ‘Delivering on Evolving Stakeholder Expectations’ and ‘Growing Resources Through Upstream Technology’.
ITPC’s closing speech was delivered by the co-chair of IPTC, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, director, oil & gas ventures, Qatar Petroleum.

“We would like to thank His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar for his patronage and His Excellency Sheikh Abdulla bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the prime minister and interior minister, for his great support and for attending personally to open both the conference and exhibition,” he said.
