What does Spacemaker do in the Oil & Gas industry?
Spacemaker provides the Oil & Gas industry with tailor-made, comprehensive and innovative modular building solutions. We deliver quality products, on time, to clients in any location in the world at economical prices.
In addition we pride ourselves on being able to provide our clients with a specialist product that is truly custom built, for them and for a very specific purpose. Despite this custom-built philosophy, our client specifications remain the focus of our delivery, leaving the time to execute as one of our biggest challenges in the industry.
Although our footprint is somewhat smaller in relation to our clientele, we understand that time is money and our overall evaluation of success, is the execution.
Through this vast experience and continued product development for the industry, our major accomplishments now rest in LNG facilities, exploration areas, production plants, onshore and offshore drilling sites, pipelines and refineries.
Which are your strongest growth markets in the Middle East region?
With over 56% of the world’s oil reserves and 36% of the world’s natural gas reserves in the Middle East, Spacemaker has positioned its operations strategically across the region, ensuring our clients requirements and services are catered to on demand.
In 2013 we introduced new products and expanded our operational network into Iraq, Qatar and northern Africa. Although Iraq continues to present daily challenges, we believe its existing reserves and planned developments will play a vital role in the region, particularly in the upstream market.
What new products/innovations are you offering that can be used in the Oil & Gas field?
With growing safety demands in the Oil and Gas market we have recently launched ‘Buildings for Life’ a product partnership with the worldwide leaders of Blast Protective Modules, Hunter Buildings.
With Hunter Buildings, Spacemaker now offers locally manufactured shelters, offices, control rooms and living quarters capable of withstanding a blast rating compliant with API.
Alongside our Health & Safety buildings launch, Spacemaker has also developed an environmentally effective module, where paper, rubbish, and scrap can be recycled on site and packed for disposal in one friendly, maintenance free procedure.
Finally, our development team is very close in finalising its prototype module, which is a revolutionised flat pack concept, proving a liveable area of almost 240m2 in a transportable volume of less than 72m3. Our time and motion studies on this product prove that one module of 30m2 can be erected in 20 minutes real-time.
What trends are you seeing in pre-fab buildings/solutions in the Oil & Gas sector?
The modular business market is forever changing, if we look back at our field 10 years ago, it was very simple; the use of ‘Port-a-cabins’ generally satisfied the interest of the buyer and user.
Ten years on, the advancement in QHSE policy and involvement of IOC’s has drastically enhanced the modular building process. Our clients are now looking for semi permanent solutions with all the bells and whistles, compliant with international building codes, and most importantly adhering to the stringent procedures imposed by the user.
Fortunately, in this time the advancements in machinery and equipments in the market have allowed us invest in the tools required to fulfil such requests, enabling us to maintain our fast track business model, without compromising engineering and safe practice.
