Baker Hughes has announced that the international rig count for January 2013 was 1,279, up 26 from the 1,253 counted in December 2012, and up 108 from the 1,171 counted in January 2012.
The Middle East rig count rose from 311 in January 2012, to 379 last month. The onshore rig count was up to 334 for January 2013 from 263 in January 2012. With the offshore rig count falling to 45 for January 2013, from 48, same time last year.
The worldwide rig count for January 2013 was 3,539, up 149 from the 3,390 counted in December 2012 and down 212 from the 3,751 counted in January 2012.
The international offshore rig count for January 2013 was 307, up 8 from the 299 counted in December 2012 and unchanged from the 307 counted in January 2012.
The average U.S. rig count for January 2013 was 1,757, down 27 from the 1,784 counted in December 2012 and down 246 from the 2,003 counted in January 2012.
The average Canadian rig count for January 2013 was 503, up 150 from the 353 counted in December 2012 and down 74 from the 577 counted in January 2012.
