Two Asians were killed today in Mussafah 11 district in Abu Dhabi after an empty fuel tank exploded in a maintenance shop, causing huge damages, says WAM, the Emriates’ news agency.
The Mussafah industrial estate is home to a majority of the UAE’s upstream services in the oil and gas industry.
According to WAM, the incident was reported to the civil defence department at 9:27 a.m. An investigation into the causes of the incident is still underway.
Lt. Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Civil Defence in Abu Dhabi, has called for taking more precautions to avoid the occurrence of such incident, reported WAM.
