I remember being absolutely awestruck by the scale of ADIPEC when I travelled from Houston to Abu Dhabi to cover the mega event for the first time in 2019. Halfway through the first day of the show, I regretted not wearing comfortable shoes for the hundredth time as I scrambled through large crowds across the gigantic exhibition centre. As excited as a child at the candy store, I tried to do everything, from catching up with the frenzy of ministerial sessions, to (countless) global exhibitors, interviews, and networking chats with industry leaders.
This year – my first ADIPEC as editor of Oil & Gas Middle East – I’m excited to network with industry professionals and hear from global leaders as they converge for this event at a time when the oil and gas industry is under assault from all sides. With the global economy on a knife-edge and high energy prices coupled with geopolitical tensions, global energy shortages suggest that some caution is in order before strategists denigrate oil’s future significance.
On another note, after the massive success of the top contractors list that was launched last month, in the November issue of Oil & Gas Middle East, we are celebrating oilfield service (OFS) companies with the release of our annual Top 25 OFS Companies list. I see OFS firms as the frontline providers of equipment and expertise. Operators from the largest national oil companies to the smallest of independents count on these firms to drive technical innovation and optimise performance in the oilfield under a broad range of economic conditions.
Our power-packed issue also features an in-depth interview with two sustainability leads from McDermott, a detailed ADIPEC preview and expert insights from Petrofac’s talent acquisition head.
