Oil & Gas Middle East Power 40
It’s that time of year again when the Middle East’s oil and gas C-suite occupants stick their chests out and go through their preening rituals. Yes, Oil & Gas Middle East’s survey of the great and good of the industry is back.In this year’s Power 40, rather than 50, we have decided on the quality, not quantity approach. Apologies to the individuals and firms now bubbling under our hydrocarbon hit parade but you may well return next year – that extra deal, a smidgen more media visibility or even just a slice of business luck might propel you back up the rankings. We have of course referred to tried and tested methods to rank the firms that follow from scrutinising revenues to noting major regional contracts but the beauty of these lists is that they are not an exact science and they are meant to generate debate. In some instances, we have ultimately decided that the “mood music” around a particular firm might be the ultimate deciding factor, especially for those enjoying major rises or suffering unfortunate dips. When it comes to the higher echelons of the list there is a sense of the usual suspects as the blue-chip NOCs and IOCs are hard to split, yet there are still some fascinating bold sprints for the top from unexpected quarters.
