In December 2008, Natpet announced the commissioning of its plant, but, like many petrochemicals projects both in Saudi Arabia and around the world, the company saw intermittent production, which is a normal occurrence in this phase.

NatPet sells its products under off-take and marketing agreements (which are normally negotiated prior to the construction of a facility).

Production at NatPet?s Yanbu production facility during the start-up period was irregular and witnessed some technical problems. NatPet COO Jamal Malaikah dismissed those problems as normal.

NatPet is a subsidiary of Alujain corporation.

The company announced last November the start of commissioning of the project, which was due to start in early 2008, but technical problems forced it to postpone commercial production till 2010.

NatPet is one of at least five petrochemical companies in Saudi Arabia that have faced delays, according to its COO Jamal Malaikah.
