The Qatargas 2 workforce consists of 30,000 people from 50 nationalities. During construction, 11.2 million man hours were worked on site.

Qatargas 2 contains enough cables to stretch from Doha to London. The two trains are powered by a generator that produces 200 megawatts of electricity, enough power to generate a small town.

Over 300,000 separate systematic tests were carried out before commissioning each train.

Qatargas produces three main products for export: liquefied natural gas (LNG), condensate and sulfur.

Qatargas 2 (and Qatargas 3&4 when they are completed) will supply markets to the US, mainland Europe and the UK.

The companies involved in the Qatargas 2 project are Qatar Petroleum, ExxonMobil and Total.

The two LNG trains on the project will each produce 7.8 million tonnes per annum.

The project has been some seven years in the making. The first supply agreements were signed with the UK in 2002.

Each of the four LNG tanks has one metre thick concrete wall with a fully insulate inner-steel ring to maintain the LNG at minus 160 degrees celsius.
