Algeria’s energy regulatory agency ALNAFT is waiting for favourable market conditions to launch its next bidding round.
Sid Al Betata, president of ALNAFT, says that the Algeria’s hydrocarbon sector remains underexploited and the North African country was planning to intensify efforts in this direction.
Apart from the unexplored areas, Betata has stressed on the need for operators to begin production from the reserves earmarked for development. He also stated that the reserves that are under development are not being explored to their full potential.
Algeria is set to host the North Africa Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (NAPEC) at the Le Meridien Hotel and Convention Centre in Oran, from March 21st to 24th.
NAPEC, according to Betata, will be an excellent opportunity to gauge the interest of industry players. “NAPEC offers an excellent platform to engage in dialogue and exchange information with all major players in the oil industry”, he said.
The 7th edition of the event is set to bring together thousands of oil and gas professionals, industry leaders and decision makers. The event will include multi-disciplinary conferences along with an exhibition area that is set to attract more than 800 exhibitors representing 30 countries.
As a way of promoting NAPEC, Betata has stressed on the importance of partnerships in the efforts of the Algerian government to attract investments in the oil and gas sector – something that the event promises.
The organisers of NAPEC also claim that the 2017 edition provides major National Oil Companies (NOCs) and oil and gas players from the wider industry the much-needed platform to meet and explore partnerships with each other.
Prominent NOCs attending NAPEC this year include Algeria’s Sonatrach, Libya’s National Oil Corporation, Egypt’s EGAS and Tunisia’s ETAP. Members of regional energy ministries and regional energy regulatory authorities like ALNAFT will also attend the event. Representatives of international oil companies like REPSOL as well as service organisations will have a presence at the event.
The trade event will discuss how innovations in technology and the evolving energy supply mix are affecting the industry and making all players rethink their operational strategies. The trade exhibition at NAPEC will showcase products, services and technologies in the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors.
