Iran Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh said that the nation wants to boost its relationship with all Middle Eastern countries, according to a report by the ministry’s news agency SHANA.
“We want to be friends with all regional countries,” he said. “Our mutual enemy is outside the Middle East.”
He continued to note that he visited the Saudi energy minister during a conference in Moscow this week. “I told him had been friends for 22 years; a friendship which had outlived all the ups and downs in Iranian-Saudi relations, and that I had no trouble meeting with him.”
SHANA reported these statements in the context of Iran’s partners leaving the South Pars Phase 11 project due to US sanctions on the nation.
“The fate of the South Pars Phase 11 has been determined and Petropars will continue developing the project alone and by the end of the this [Iranian calendar] year (to March 20, 2020), the first jacket will be installed in the phase for a platform with 500 mcf/d of gas production capacity,” Zangeneh said
