Preliminary evidence following attacks on major Saudi oil facilities indicates that Iran supplied the weapons used to target Khurais and Abqaiq plants, according to the Arab Coalition.

“The preliminary results show that the weapons are Iranian and we are currently working to determine the location,” said Colonel Turki Al-Malki, spokesman for the Arab Coalition.

“The terrorist attack was not launched from Yemeni territory as the Houthi militias claimed,” he said during a press conference in Riyadh.

The nation’s foreign  ministry released a statement condemning the attacks.

“The kingdom condemns this egregious crime, which threatens international peace and security, and affirms that the primary target of this attack are global energy supplies, as it is in line with the previous attacks against Saudi Aramco pumping stations using Iranian weapons,” the ministry said.

The US was quick to blame Iran for the attacks, with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeting that “Iran has now launched an unprecedented attack on the world’s energy supply.”
