The United Arab Emirates has condemned the attack which saw bomb-laden drones spark a fire at the Shaybah oil field in Saudi Arabia, stating its full solidarity with the nation.

The Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that it was also “a warning to the UAE.” The UAE has strongly condemend the attack, with the nation’s Foreign Ministry saying it “aims at destabilising security and stability and poses a grave threat to the world’s energy supply,” according to state new agency WAM.

It continued to state that “the security of the United Arab Emirates and that of Saudi Arabia are indivisible, and any threat or danger facing the kingdom is considered as a threat to the security and stability system in the UAE.”

The foreign ministry also stated its support “of all measures taken by Saudi authorities to secure the country’s security and stability, as well as any actions taken in the face of extremism and terrorism.”

Saudi Aramco said that it quickly contained a small fire caused by the attack, and reported no injuries.

Saudi Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih said that the attack “follows a series of actions, including attacks against oil tankers, aimed at disrupting international oil supplies.”

He also noted that these were not just attacks on Saudi Arabia, but also on the global economy.
