Saudi Arabia’s three-month midday work break, which bans outdoor work between 12pm and 3pm during the summer, will start on 15 June according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
However, the midday work break, as implemented by the nation’s Ministry of Labor and Social Development, will exclude oil and gas workers as well as emergency maintenance workers. Some governorates are also excluded from the policy, due to differing temperatures across the vast country. The ministry encouraged those not included in the midday work break to “take the necessary measures to protect themselves from damage due to the heat.”
The midday work break will end on 15 September.Â
