Bahrain Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa met with Saudi Aramco CTO Ahmad Othman Al-Khowaiter to discuss joint efforts to carry out projects that could boost oil ouput.Â
It mainly focused on cooperation between the two entities to leverage carbon dioxide injection technology, including the establishment of a carbon dioxide transport and distribution network.
The two entities signed an agreement to exchange information and to set up a team to conduct feasibilities study on potential ways to boost oil output and to leverage the carbon dioxide that Saudi Aramco produces. Oil and Gas Holding Company Acting Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dhafer Al-Jalahma and signed the agreement with Al-Khowaiter.
Al-Khowaiter also shed light on the planned Middle East Conference on Carbon capture and storage (CCS), which will be organized in January 2020 by the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), under the patronage of Oil Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa.
