Saudi Aramco launches tender for $15-billion Marjan offshore oilfield development project

Saudi Aramco has put its $15 billion Marjan Crude Increment Programme up for tender, according to multiple posts on ProTenders and BNC Network.

According to a post on BNC Network, at least seven offshore contractors are prequalified for the development’s second and third packages. That includes China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company, McDermott, Malaysia’s Sapura Energy, Saipem and L&T in consortium with Abu Dhabi’s National Petroleum Construction Company and Subsea 7.

The second package includes 200 kilometres of subsea pipelines across 21 segments and 150 kilometres of subsea cables across 15 segments, as well as three tie-in platforms and nine oil wellhead platforms. Meanwhile, the third package involves a gas cap production network and other tie-ins and wellhead platforms, for the production of non-associated gas and gas cap injection, according to BNC Network.

Five subsea trunk lines will link the development to a new gas facility in Tanajib on the Gulf coast, and from there to the natural gas liquid facility in Khursaniya. The project will also involve the expansion of a cogeneration facility for the oilfield and the addition of a natural gas liquid fractionation unit to an existing facility.

The onshore package involves constructing new crude processing, gas compression and dehydration trains to process an additional 300,000 bpd of crude oil. The planned Gas-Oil Separation Plant (GOSP-4) will be designed to handle 475,000 barrels per day of oil and almost 750 million cubic feet of gas per day. It will be located less than 10 kilometres from Marjan’s existing GOSP-2 and GOSP-3 facilities.

This follows Saudi Aramco launching a tender for its $6 billion Berri oilfield development project and associated gas plant.
