Qatar and Morocco ministers meet to strengthen energy cooperation

His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, the Minister of State for Energy Affairs, met today with H.E. Mr. Aziz Rabbah, the Minister of Energy, Mines, and Environment in the Kingdom of Morocco.

After signing a memorandum of understanding in April 2016, Morocco and Qatar have continued to cooperate in energy-related fields. Qatar’s state-owned oil conglomerate Qatar Petroleum (QP) began exporting fossil fuels to Morocco in 2019 after they won a bid for 12 countries including Morocco, Kenya, Guyana and Namibia.

During the 6th High Moroccan Qatari Joint Commission in Doha, Morocco partnered with Qatar to supply its 5 billion cubic metre per year liquefied natural gas import facility at Jorf Lasfar, 100 kilometres south of Casablanca.

Discussions during the meeting dealt with various aspects of cooperation in the energy field between Qatar and Morocco, and means to enhance them.
