This year, the judging panel for the Oil & Gas Middle East and Refining & Petrochemicals Middle East Awards received a competitive crop of candidates for each of the 10 award categories. Each candidate was scrutinised until the judging panel was able to decide on a shortlist, and ultimately one winner and one ‘highly commended’ were chosen.
Baradah has been recognised for her role in supporting women in the oil and gas industry and the improvement of the industry itself. She has developed and ran numerous courses and workshops to bridge gaps found in engineers’ comprehension of contracts. Baradah developed standards that set the foundations of the field, copies of which were sought outside of her own company.
Baradah said: “I am very fortunate to have the support behind me from SATORP’s management, its shareholders, my mentors and my family, and the opportunity in my country to practice my profession successfully in a very competitive industry like oil and gas. I am ecstatic in receiving this award.”
“I think this is a very good platform for visibility, especially because I know there are many women professionals with high achievements in the industry within the region, and so, I am extremely proud to hopefully pave the way for others, going forward. And, I am very humbled to be succeeding last year’s winner of this award from Saudi Aramco – Dr Abeer Al-Olayan.”
The ‘highly commended’ nomination in this category is for Sudha Nakka Papisetty, team leader, HSE planning and performance, ADNOC Sour Gas. A dynamic quality, occupational health and safety professional, Papisetty has proven results in developing and implementing effective quality, health and safety management systems, which have successfully reduced incidents within ADNOC Sour Gas.
The jury panel this year, comprising five judges – Luciano Poli, president, India, Middle East and North Africa, Dow; Vivek Chandra, CEO and founder, Texas LNG; Nicholas Kjaer, general manager, Middle East, Churchill Drilling Tools; Ben Oudman, regional manager, DNV GL, oil and gas, Continental Europe, Eurasia, Middle East, India and Africa; and Annabel Green, chief technology officer, Tendeka – considered the merit of each and every entry, and decided the winner and the ‘highly commended’.
