This year, the judging panel for the Oil & Gas Middle East and Refining & Petrochemicals Middle East Awards received a competitive crop of candidates for each of the 10 award categories. Each candidate was scrutinized until the judging panel was able to decide on a shortlist, and ultimately one winner and one highly commended nominee were chosen.
The winner of Training Initiative/Programme of the Year 2018:
Saudi Aramco won the Training Initiative/Programme of the Year 2018 for its Geoscience Train Programme!
A jury member noted that the Geoscience Train Programme “will play an important role in ensuring a smooth transition between generations and helping to develop new crew of employees to sustain the company’s success for decades. The programme offers a golden opportunity for the trainees to make proper decisions to steer the workforce in the right direction at the right time.”
“[We have] put together this programme to accelerate the development of young talent and accelerate the transfer of knowledge and to put the foundation of expertise in the young talent upon their entry within two years they are set on a speciality track after that,” said Aus Al Tawil, Manager of Southern Reservoir Characterization Department at Saudi Aramco.
Highly commended for Training Initiative/Programme of the Year 2018:
Gulf Safety and Training Centre’s Professional Fireman Training Initiative was highly commended under this category!
One judge praised Gulf Technical & Safety Training Centre for the programme, saying it is “a truly holistic fireman development programme, fully compliant with the American Standard of National Fire Protection Association, allowing the trainees to develop a good balance in practical firefighting, emergency rescue management and team skills.”
