The editors of Oil & Gas Middle East, Refining & Petrochemicals Middle East, and Utilities Middle East are pleased to announce the winners and highly commended of the Middle East Energy Awards’ 2020 edition.

“We received many qualified nominations and it was tough for our judging panel to select our winners and highly commended,” said Carla Sertin, Group Editor of Energy & Construction at ITP Media Group. “It is inspiring to see such determination, innovation and resilience in the face of a truly challenging year which has impacted every company in our sector.”

The awards include 16 categories spanning the upstream, downstream, and utilities sector, with an inaugural Energy Executive of the Year introduced in this year’s edition, released virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Although we could not celebrate in person this year, we are eager to recognise excellence and to encourage innovation in the industry at such a crucial time,” said Martin Menachery, Editor of Refining & Petrochemicals Middle East.

The Middle East Energy Awards is a flagship industry event which has been held annually since 2010, gathering industry leaders to recognise achievements across the energy sector. Previous guests of honor include HE Saif Humaid Al Falasi, CEO of ENOC Group.

This year’s judging panel comprised Mo Loch, CEO, DMS Global; Steve Griffiths, Senior Vice President, Research & Development and Professor of Practice, Khalifa University; and the editors of Oil & Gas Middle East, Refining & Petrochemicals Middle East and Utilities Middle East. The judges studied each nomination carefully to decide the winners and highly commended for each category, with a shortlist of incredibly qualified candidates.

“The winners and highly commended at the Middle East Energy Awards represent the priorities, strengths, and future plans for the entire industry,” said Baset Al Asaba, Editor of Utilities Middle East. “I’m pleased to see a good mix of upstream, downstream, and utilities projects, including massive projects in renewable energy.”
