Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has resumed operations, shipping and oil exports after a sandstorm swept through the country on Tuesday.
The company announced that improvements in the weather had ended their temporary halting of all operations. Sand and dust laden winds travelling at speeds of up to 60km an hour were recorded on Tuesday, with visibility as low as 300m at Kuwait Airport and 150m at three of its main ports.
Kuwait has now experienced its third winter in succession with very little or no rainfall, raising its susceptibility to sandstorms usually associated with the summer months.
