An official ceremony has been held at Petroleum Development Oman’s (PDO) Muscat headquarters as two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed in the presence of Ibrahim AlHarthi, chairman of the Al Noor Association for the Blind and Malik Al Yahmadi, municipal council member. The event was hosted by PDO’s external affairs & communications manager, Mohammed Al Ghareebi.
PDO is to support the Al Noor Association for the Blind with virtual braille tablets to assist blind people with reading and writing. This technology will be distributed across the association’s branches in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah and Nizwa.
In addition, PDO has committed to supporting the Bawsher Paper & Paper Recycling Project of Nida Al Khair, under commission of social development, in Boushar by providing 100 segregation bins to collect and provide raw materials for the project to support sustainable income generation.
Just recently, PDO, in an another environmental initiative, used the occasion of its PDO Day to announce the banning of single-use plastics across its business as part of a wide-ranging campaign on environmental sustainability.
That initiative falls under its Estidama (Sustainability) campaign which was launched in January to build a positive environmental culture across Oman by focusing on six main pillars: renewable energy, people, energy, efficiency, environment, energy saving and economy.
