Sonatrach, an Algerian hydrocarbons company and Italian Saïpem-Snam Progetti have signed an agreement to construct the world’s longest pipeline to transport liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) of more than 500 km in Algeria.
Pipeline transport head from Sonatrach Hocine Chekired, and Italian pipeline transport head Nerio Capanna, in the presence of Energy and Mines minister Chakib Khelil and Sonatrach CEO Mohamed Meziane, signed the agreement.
The LZ2 pipeline, will connect the gas terminal at Hassi R’mel to the Arzew petrochemical complex, and is estimated to cost around US $500 million.
