Emerson Process Management has celebrated its success at the Oil & Gas Middle East Awards event, held last night in Dubai. The firm claimed the honours in the “National Graduate Training Programme of the Year” category, against tough competition from Senergy and Qatar Petroleum.

The firm claimed the prize for its summer internship programme which has provided students at Abu Dhabi’s Petroleum Institute with training courses and educational visits covering Emerson’s expansive capabilities in the region.

Emerson Process Management General Manager for the Middle East and Africa, Cor Corbeek, said of the award:
“We try to be as close as possible to local education. We sponsor a number of students, they do an internship at our facilities and they go through all the facets of the industry.

“Globally, of course, Emerson does this kind of thing, but in the Middle East specifically it has a high profile because there is so much focus on localisation of workforces.

“For us, the idea is that these are the future company leaders, so it’s an investment for us to have ambassadors of our company in firms later on. It’s an indirect way of getting our solutions promoted.”

The Awards, organized by Oil & Gas Middle East and ArabianOilandGas.com the region’s leading information sources for energy professionals, had its third outing last night at the luxury Westin Hotel in Dubai, UAE.

Awards were presented in thirteen categories, and Emerson joined the likes of Saudi Aramco, Shell, Total and Schlumberger on the winners’ roster.
