In addition to celebrating two significant accolades for HSE and the young engineer of the year awards, Saudi Aramco has celebrated its success in the “Innovative Oil Project of the Year” award.

The firm claimed the award for its Manifa Field Arabian Heavy Crude Production Project; winning against shortlisted entries from ZADCO and LukOil. The Manifa scheme will see production hit half a million barrels per day by early next year, with extensive development that includes 41 kilometres of causeways, 27 drilling islands and 15 onshore drill sites.

Speaking on the award, Aramco’s Infection Control Coordinator, Abdullah Al Baqami, said: “Innovation is key to Saudi Aramco. It’s aligned with our values, and with our ATP – our Accelerated Transformation Programme – and with strategic 2020 intent. So winning this award is very much in line with our current direction.
“In terms of innovation, we are always looking for the better, the more enlightened and the more futuristic approach. And innovation is key to what we do. The award is a real tribute to where we are heading for the future – moving away from our very structured policies and procedures and moving to a more agile and flexible approach.”

The awards evening, organised by Oil & Gas Middle East and ArabianOilandGas.com, had its third outing last night at Dubai’s luxury Westin Hotel.

Awards were presented in thirteen categories, and Saudi Aramco celebrated alongside firms including Total, Shell and Schlumberger on the winners’ podium.
