Houston-based Electro-Flow Controls (EFC), a designer and manufacturer of instrumentation, monitoring and control systems for the oil and gas industry, has secured a significant seven-figure contract for supplying end client, Well Ops, (a subsidiary of Helix Energy Solutions Group with its Blow-Out Preventor (BOP), MUX Control System.

“This large contract win establishes EFC’s position as a deepwater controls provider, complementing and extending our BOP technology,” said John Wheeler, managing director, EFC.

“In the interest of faster deployment and ease of recovery, a key deliverable on this system, we have taken the opportunity to repackage the subsea components into particularly space efficient and lightweight units,” he added.

EFC, contracted through Worldwide Oilfield Machine (WOM), will jointly supply the complete Surface Blow-Out Preventer (SBOP) Drilling Package to Well Ops’vessel Q4000 currently being converted in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM).

The system is the first of its kind to be deployed in the GOM.
