Speedy International took the opportunity at ADIPEC to announce that it will be expanding its services to the Middle East’s oil and gas industry, following the award of a US$ 50 million services contract with ADNOC’s support services arm ESNAAD.

As a group, Speedy has gained many years of experience globally using its technical expertise in major oil and gas infrastructure projects combined with its asset management services. Operating in the Middle East since 2010, the company is now investing heavily in its fleet and services to the petrochemicals industry.

“As a leading provider of specialist equipment, expertise and support services to the oil and gas sector, we offer the youngest fleet in the region, having invested $31.3 million since launching our Middle East operations in 2010,” said Andy Carter, managing director of Speedy International.

Speedy offers specialised equipment for pipeline process works, industrial shutdowns and turnarounds, temporary power solutions, and offshore and onshore process works, all from its new 30,000 sq ft regional headquarters in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi.

“We offer flexible services ranging from equipment rental to on-site temporary depot set-up specific to project requirements.

Our extensive product range includes generators, nitrogen production units, boosters, compressors, lighting towers, lifting and hand tools, while our services include test, repair, inspect and maintenance (TRIM) to ensure our clients enjoy smooth operations in what is a high-risk environment,” said Carter.

“In just a few years we have become the registered contractor for some of the region’s leading petrochemical companies, including ADNOC. In July, we were appointed as subcontract partner to ESNAAD to provide logistics, asset management and equipment rental services to support Zakum Development Company’s (ZADCO) flagship UZ 750 Project at Abu Dhabi’s Upper Zakum field, the fourth largest oilfield in the world,” Carter added.

The contract, which is for an initial period of five years with a two year extension option, covers the full range of logistics, asset management and equipment rental services required to support drilling and processing activities on four artificial islands which are being constructed by ZADCO.

Hummel
For German industrial cable gland and cable protection developer Hummel, ADIPEC was also a glimmering success, drawing potential investors interested in the company’s design and quality standards.

“Every visitor at our booth was immediately impressed by the quality of our products, made in Germany,” said the company’s chairman Holger Hummel. “The ADIPEC is definitely the exhibition in the Middle East when it comes to relevant products for the oil and gas sector.

It is the best chance to meet existing and potential customers in that region,” he continued. “It is also a place where you can actually see new exciting products and services.”

This year, Hummel promoted a new range of cable glands for hazardous areas. Hummel supplies all types of cable glands for different applications, this includes flame-protected industrial polyamide cable glands made of V0 material.

Cables are really the veins and lifelines of any project, and according to Hummel, most visitors to the stall had a keen understanding of the technology, “therefore it was a pleasure to discuss in depth the details of our products,” he said.

Following on from its successful presence this time around, Hummel expects that the company will be returning to ADIPEC next year, “We will definitely be there and I am sure, we will have something new in our pocket for next year.”

DUCAB
Ducab, one of the top suppliers of copper cable products in the Middle East, showcased its Oil Gas and Petrochemical products at the ADIPEC.

Ducab OGP’s projects range from upstream clients such as oil and gas production facilities to large midstream projects involving pipelines and infrastructure, as well as downstream concerns such as fertilizer and refinery concerns. It also supplies brownfield projects.

“The Oil and Gas sector is a very important market for Ducab, and ADIPEC offers us the ideal opportunity to showcase our products and explore business opportunities with both upstream and downstream clients.

Ducab’s OGP division has been growing rapidly in recent years, and look forward to continuing that momentum,” said Colin McKay, Ducab’s GM for Marketing and Sales.

In 2011, the company recorded 250% increase in sales to the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical sector, and won important contracts in the field, such as a Dhs213m win for work on the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company’s (Takreer) Ruwais Refinery expansion.
2012 is continuing this upward trajectory, and Ducab’s OGP division continues to perform strongly.

Products on display included the entire range of low voltage, medium voltage and high voltage cables complemented by the instrumentation and pilot cables. Widely used across OGP industries, Ducab’s cables are manufactured to BS and IEC standards.

“ADIPEC offers a valuable opportunity to generate business leads. We are pleased at our participation, and are actively looking to convert some of the leads we generated over four days into concrete business propositions,” McKay concluded.

Endress+Hauser
Endress+Hauser, the measurement instrumentation, services and solutions for industrial process engineering specialists told Oil & Gas Middle East that the event had been a massive success, and that key new products had proved popular with exhibition visitors throughout the week.

Prasanth Sreekumar, head of marketing said: “The event itself was very well organised. Endress+Hauser participated with a booth area of 75 sq metres and I am confident ADIPEC opened up new customer base and leads. It was a big success for Endress+Hauser, and well timed for us with the launch of new products.”

Among the new products wowing the visitors, says Sreekumar, was the new guided wave radar technology on display.

“We are very excited as we have invented the ‘Sensor Fusion Technology’ – a first in the market, and the Levelflex FMP55 Multiparameter transmitter is now an integral part of its family of level products, meeting the main requirements of providing a reliable and repeatable solution for this complicated application, optimising the quality of the production process along with minimum maintenance.”

He adds The Levelflex FMP55, with the ‘SensorFusion’ technology, is a combination of two established and trusted technologies bringing together the advantages of both capacitance and guided wave radar without the maintenance intensive draw backs of mechanical displacer measurement solutions.

Endress+Hauser were also displaying their recently launched Four Tube design Coriolis mass flow meter.

“This new innovation helps customers to use Coriolis Technology in bigger pipe lines, high capacity flow metering application. It also offers unique customer benefits in terms of better throughput, best in class accuracy and repeatability,” enthuses Sreekumar.

“Overall I think our stand was very well received and the technology on display captured the interest of the visitors as well as creating awareness of the Endress+Hauser portfolio.”

2012, says Sreekumar, has been a solid year for business. “This year the business scaled new heights in the region. And we gained significant market share with our Flow and Level portfolio of products.

We have also invested in the region, with our recently opened office in Abu Dhabi & our own Sales Centre in Qatar and Saudi Arabia and confirm our commitment to the region. Considering the market conditions and new investments, we fully expect our oil and gas related business to grow in 2013”.

AVEVA
This year’s ADIPEC had a timely ring to it for Aveva Solutions, which was celebrating it’s 45th birthday.

“Throughout its history, AVEVA Solutions has led the innovation in the Oil and Gas providing the industry with the first 3D plant design system (1976), first Intelligent P&ID system (1979), and first plant design system for concurrent engineering (2001),” said Derek Middlemas, COO Of Head Enterprise Solutions from AVEVA.

Speaking to Oil & Gas Middle East from the exhibition floor, Middlemas said one of the key messages he was keen to disseminate at ADIPEC was how the firms’ local support can be tapped to train EPCs and Owner-Operators. Recently, the firm has been on a bullish run in the Middle East.

“The region represents one of our fantastic growth opportunities. For example, the local market has consistently grown by over 30% the last few years and the same is forecasted for the foreseeable future.

Apart from expanding our foot print in the 3D market, we are rapidly expanding the use of our information management AVEVA NET brand with NOCs,” he said.

Middlemas said the company has built a strong relationship with many of the region’s majors.

“National oil companies like ADMA-OPCO and Petroleum Development Oman standardise on our solutions for engineering and design and mandate them on their projects. Others like Saudi Aramco, and SATORP use our AVEVA NET brand to fulfill their information management requirement.

The upstream industry is usually leading in technology so we see more users of our technology there than in the downstream industry. As for EPCs, this is AVEVA traditionally strong market and we are continuing to grow with the likes of Petrofac, Worley Parsons and McDermott.”

Middlemas said he was delighted to announce at ADIPEC that the company is introducing AVEVA EveryThing3D (E3D).

“AVEVA E3D is AVEVA’s next generation plant design system with a direct integration to laser data while modeling, new interface, new drafting capability integrated with modeling and parallel running with AVEVA PDMS.

AVEVA E3D will be the core design application within AVEVA Plant. It is fully interoperable with all other AVEVA Engineer, Design and Manage products.”
