Technip has been awarded by Statoil a contract worth approximately US$79.1 million, for the Vigdis NE field development located in the Norwegian Sea. The bulk of the project work is for installations at a water depth of 220 – 310 metres.
The deal covers the welding and installation of flowlines, including a 1.5 kilometre pipe-in-pipe production flowline and a 9 kilometre plastic-lined water injection flowline, as well as the supply of flexible tails for the flowlines, subsea equipment installation and flowline tie-ins.
Technip’s operating center in Oslo, Norway will execute the contract. Flowline welding will take place in the company’s spoolbase in Orkanger, Norway, while flowline installation will be performed with the Apache II, a pipelay vessel from Technip fleet, in mid-2012.
Flowlines are pipes, laid on the seabed, which allows the transportation of oil/gas production or injection of fluids. Typically Its length varies from a few hundred meters to several kilometers.
