Sumitomo Corporation has announced that it has won a major contract from Saudi Aramco that will see the company provide the communication systems for the US$9 billion Manifa offshore project.
The Tokyo-based contractor will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the systems including communication systems, supervisory control and data acquisition systems/remote terminal units and facilities.
Manifa will become Saudi Arabia’s largest offshore field when it comes on stream, capable of producing 900,000 barrels of Arabian Heavy crude.
The contract is the second Sumitomo has won with Aramco in recent weeks. The company was also awarded the communications package for the Aramco/Total refinery joint venture at Jubail.
The value of both contracts has not been disclosed.
