Expro International Group has announced the signing of a contract with BP Exploration Operating Company, for the development and commercialisation of Expro’s AX-S lightweight, sub sea wire line intervention system.

The AX-S system designed to improve production and reserves recoveries from sub sea wells, will be built by Expro, while BP provide technical input and partial project funding.

“In the world where oil and gas is becoming increasingly difficult to find, our customers are becoming very focused on maximising recovery from existing discoveries,” said Graeme Coutts, Expro CEO. “In deep water, rig based economics limit the deployment of traditional production enhancement techniques, resulting in lower recovery factors than might otherwise be possible. The AX-S is a market opportunity to deliver a new technique to the upstream sector.”
