Alcatel-Lucent announced it will provide Italian oil and gas contractor, Saipem with a solution that will boost efficiency and increase safety and security for 19 sites in Algeria that perform gas extraction, treatment and transport within the framework of the Menzel Ledjmet East (MLE) project.
Alcatel-Lucent ‘s turnkey solution will ensure the performance and continuity of communications under the extreme climate and operational conditions of the remote installation sites, including the real-time monitoring of a 500 km-long gas pipeline.
“Oil and gas companies face highly specific demands compounded by remote locations and hazardous operating environments. They need to minimise the risks associated with the construction of the plant, pipeline, platform and wellhead elements, but also with their daily operations. Alcatel-Lucent has proven experience in such demanding environments to provide end-to-end solutions and services,” said Laurent Stefanini, Head of Alcatel-Lucent’s business in Algeria.
