A pipeline belonging to Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia, has been the site of a fatal fire.
According to a company statement the fire occurred on the Haradh-Uthmaniyah gas pipeline, 30km away from Hawiyah Gas Plant, in the early hours of Sunday morning. A company spokesperson was unable to confirm the number of injuries or the cause of the fire, though it is believed to be accidental.
The site of the fire was subject to maintenance work for new tie-ins. Saudi Aramco reports that the affected lines have been isolated and the fire brought under control.
In a statement the company said: “Necessary operational adjustments have been made to the gas system to normalize operations to ensure continuity of fuel supply.”
