Dana Gas has moved to quash previous reports that it was still actively seeking investment opportunities in Syria.
In a statement lodged today at the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, CEO Ahmed Al-Arbeed “wishes to clarify that, while the Company has reviewed opportunities in Syria last year, it is currently not involved in any discussions with the Syrian authorities not has signed any contracts or agreements.”
The region’s press reported earlier this month that Dana Gas was still considering a play in Syria, after Arbeed was quoted in Al Ittihad that Dana was bidding with rivals on blocks there.
