RAK Petroleum Oman, a subsidiary of UAE Based – RAK Petroleum, and Oman Petro Environmental Services Company (OMAN PESCO) have signed a two-year agreement under which OMAN PESCO shall provide oil spill protection and response services to cover RAK Petroleum’s offshore operations in Oman.Â
The contract also covers rendering training services for RAK’s personnel up to international training standards for environmental protection and oil spill response.
RAK Petroleum is currently the sole offshore operator in the Sultanate of Oman. The company recently commenced production from the West Bukha field in Oman’s Block 8 located offshore in the Strait of Hormuz.
“This agreement is a clear demonstration that RAK Petroleum Oman Limited take their environmental responsibilities seriously and that efforts are continually made to mitigate risks to the environment,” said Ayman Naguib, assistant general manager, OMAN PESCO.
As Oman’s pioneers in offshore exploration and production, RAK Petroleum Oman has said it is committed to moving from reactionary arrangements – oil spill response at time of incident – to a proactive approach through which environmental protection is paramount and emergency preparedness is superior.
