The former Prime Minister of the UK, Tony Blair, was given a job with an oil firm operating in Iraq, 14 months after leaving his post in London.

The details of the deal struck between Blair and the oil firm are unknown, but it has been confirmed that Blair was given work by UI Energy, a Korean firm which is one of the biggest investors in the Kurdistan area of Iraq.

The Whitehall Advisory Committee on Business Appointments allowed Blair to keep the deal secret due to “market sensitivities”.

Critics of the former Prime Minster have accused him of getting rich of f the contacts he made during the Iraq war.

“These revelations show that our former Prime Minister is for sale – he is driven by making as much money as possible. I think many people will find it deeply insensitive that he is apparently cashing in on his contacts from the Iraq war to make money for himself,” Lib Dem MP Norman Baker said.
