The Awards campaign team were overwhelmed by some excellent nominations from women whose work is making a difference to the industry every day.
All of these ladies are fantastic and talented professionals, whose mere presence in the industry will surely inspire many more women to come forward and build a career in oil and gas.
Of the stellar entries that were sent, Dr Abeer Al-Olayan, has been bestowed with the coveted title of the ‘Oil & Gas Woman of the Year for 2017’ by the jury, which was impressed by her “high technical achievements”, and for being “active throughout the GCC.” Dr Al-Olayan is a senior research scientist at Saudi Aramco.
“I feel very proud to be receiving the ‘Woman of the Year’ for 2017. This outstanding recognition not only represents me but also every woman in Saudi Aramco who works hard alongside her fellow man to lead the company to succeed,” Dr Al-Olayan, who could not attend the award ceremony in Dubai, said in an e-mailed statement.
“I know the competition for this award is not easy and this makes me even more proud of this achievement. Winning this award would not have been possible without the support I have received from the Saudi Aramco management.”
Her colleague from Aramco, Dr Samantha J Horseman, collected the trophy on stage on her behalf.
